The new £2 million flagship Shepherd's Bush Library is so much more than a place to borrow books from! It's been dubbed one of the UK's most innovative public libraries and contains all the latest technology, including WiFi Internet access and music mixing software.
Situated at Westfield London opposite Debenhams, in Wood Lane the newest edition to London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, the two-floor library houses over 10,000 brand new fiction and non-fiction books, with over 1000 new DVDs, 600 CDs and 25 computers!
It also features dedicated spaces for quiet reading and for children's activities, as well as a new teenager area with computer games and chill-out space!
One of the most innovative aspects of the library is the new Work Zone, which sees London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham partnering with Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College, Job Centre Plus and Westfield London to provide a recruitment service for retailers to fill their jobs locally. Borough residents can benefit from work specific training such as food hygiene, plus get advice on interview techniques and help with the initial childcare costs for local residents who secure jobs at Westfield London.
