Westfield Royal Victoria Place is pleased to support Demelza Hospice Care for Children.
Delmelza is a registered charity providing hospice care for children with life-limiting conditions and their families across Kent, East Sussex and South East London. Demelza provides community care, hospice care, planned short breaks, emergency respite, therapies, symptom control, end of life care and bereavement support.
Demelza currenlty currently operates an eight bedded hospice for children in Sittingbourne, Kent. They also recently opened a brand new hospice in South East London covering seven London boroughs and they also provide Demelza Community - a hospice at home service operating in West Kent, East Sussex and South East London.
Demelza currently has approximatley 570 children and families across Kent, Sussex and South London who can access their services. With the opening of their new hospice in South East London, Demelza will expect to initially provide care for an additional nearly 200 children and families.
The running costs of all of their great work and the services they provide is estimated to cost nearly £7 million for the financial year of 2008/2009. Only a small amount of government funding is provided and Demelza almost entirely relies upon fundraising and charitable donations to continue its good work.
We look forward to working with the Demelza team to achieve their goals over the forthcoming year. If you would like to support their good work, please make a donation at the Westfield Concierge desk located on level 2 outside Bhs where you can also purchase Demelza badges and key rings.
