Westfield confirmed that it has signed a new 36,000 sq. ft. deal with the InditexGroup to open three new stores at its Westfield Stratford City scheme in East London. The Spanish retailer has agreed terms to open new stores for Zara, Pull & Bear and Bershka at the 1.9m sq. ft. scheme. The deals follow just over two months after Inditex opened its first Zara store in Australia - with Westfield at the Westfield Sydney City development. This successful relationship has helped to foster these additional deals in London, also to include the new Zara store format/layout first seen in Sydney. The deals bring the Stratford City scheme to well above 90% leased or committed ahead of it's opening on September 13th.

Inditex is the world's largest clothing retailer by sales volumes, with 5,154 shops in 78 countries. Other store formats within the Inditex group include Massimo Dutti and Oysho who are yet to enter the UK market. Westfield is the world's largest shopping centre owner-operator, with 119 centres in 4 countries. The £1.45bn Westfield Stratford City development is expected to attract shoppers from a 4+ million catchment that reaches up into Kent, Essex and Hertfordshire counties.

Bill Giouroukos, Director of Operations for Westfield UK/Europe, commented "These three deals bring world-renowned names to Westfield Stratford City and set a new global benchmark for their design. We worked very closely with Inditex to deliver the Sydney store in April, and provided the perfect stage for their new Zara store format designed to convey a sense of simplicity and elegance. The same has been true for Stratford City, where Inditex has chosen three exceptional locations; not just in terms of visibiity and anticipated footfall, but in terms of their surrounding tenant adjacencies - all providing the strongest environment for their individual brands. Stratford City is keen to establish its own identity in East London with a collection of strong UK and international retailers. We are working closely with all retailers to encourage new innovative store designs and fascias - and Inditex is no different. The new store designs for Zara, Pull and Bear and Bershka all look extraordinary, and we look forward to their opening on 13th September."

The Zara store will open in a 27,000 sqft, double-height unit on the first level of the scheme, Pull & Bear in a 4,310 sqft. unit on the first level of the scheme, whilst Bershka will open on the first level, in a 5394 sqft unit.

Other recent signings include New Look, Primark, Next, Hollister, Reiss, Nike, Hugo Boss, Timberland, Uniqlo, Superdry, Lacoste and more.
