Westfield Stratford City, Europe's largest urban shopping centre and the prestigious gateway to the Olympic Park will open its doors to an eager public on Tuesday 13th September 2011.

"We are diligently working towards the opening of our East London project in 150 days which will be a wonderful curtain raiser for the excitement which will follow nine months later at the Olympic Games," Michael Gutman, Managing Director for Westfield UK/Europe and New Markets, said.

"Following on from the successful launch of Westfield London over two years ago, we are well underway with preparations for another exciting year for our retailers and consumers in September, leading into a busy Christmas period, Easter 2012 and then into the Summer Olympic Games.  70% of all visitors to the London Olympics will arrive at the Games via Westfield Stratford City."

Westfield Stratford City is the 1.9 million sq ft retail, leisure and business destination representing a £1.45bn investment in London and creating 10,000 permanent new jobs from 13th September this year.

Westfield Stratford City will be home to over 300 dynamic new brands, over 50 places to dine, a 14-screen, all-digital Vue cinema, the UK's largest casino operated by Aspers, three hotels, a bowling alley and central events and entertainment spaces.

The scheme is anchored by John Lewis, Marks & Spencer and Waitrose and is the preferred location for many new retailers to the UK.  1.1 million sq ft of office space is also planned, with 130,000 sq ft already built, and will be ready for occupation this September.  Westfield Stratford City will have an unrivalled transport network and is set to become one of the best connected retail destinations in the UK, with £17 billion being invested in public transport in the lead-up to the 2012 Olympics.
