Honouring the past and Inspiring Future
Deborah Klass is the CEO of The Windrush Generation Legacy Association Charity (WGLA), based in Croydon and working within all London boroughs. WGLA are a heritage charity dedicated to celebrating the contributions of the Windrush Generation and ensuring their legacy inspires future generations. Through arts, culture, and community initiatives, WGLA create spaces where young people find belonging, purpose, and pride, helping them to shine and make positive choices for their future. They also work closely with elders, providing clubs and events to combat loneliness and ensure voices and experiences remain at the heart of the community.
The art exhibition is an example of collaboration for Black History Month under the theme “Standing Firm in Power and Pride.”It showcases the creativity of Black and Global Majority artists and allies, highlighting the shared values of culture and community that drive the work. This theme will also be carried forward as the inspiration for 2026.
