Bring Parisian style to your home

Parisian Interiors

By Jessica Harris

Paris is a city synonymous with opulence, style and understated elegance, so it’s no wonder Parisian-inspired interiors are so popular. From clean lines and eye-catching cornices to glamorous accents and laid-back aesthetics, achieving Parisian décor worthy of an apartment over-looking the Seine is now possible thanks to Westfield London's Home Quarter.

If soft panelled walls and a railed balcony is out of reach, you can bring the French capital inside with thoughtful accessories, luxe textures and a colour palette not suitable for pets or children. So, grab your coffee and croissant and settle in for an interior journey to Paris.

WHITE OUT

If there's one thing Parisians do exceptionally well, it's simplicity. Clean, bright, and uncluttered, a white blank canvas is far from boring as it instantly brightens a space allowing you to dress the room with stand-out accessories without worrying about clashing prints or colours. Just make sure you invest in a good stain remover!

GOLD RUSH

Over-the-top opulence is a key trend associated with Parisian interiors but you don't have to break the bank to achieve the look. Gold photo frames, door handles, table décor and mirrors are a great way to give your home a luxurious feel in a subtle and lived-in way.

LET THERE BE LIGHT

Light fittings are a perfect way to introduce statement accents into your home. While Parisian apartments are known for their high ceilings and dramatic alcoves that can take huge chandeliers, you can still bring the same amount of glamour into smaller spaces. Whether it's a more discreet pendant or arched floor lamp, lots of texture in the fitting can provide a dramatic feel.

INTO THE MIX

Scouring antique markets at the weekend is a favourite pastime of Parisians with a keen eye. Mixing historic pieces with contemporary mid-century furniture is what French residents do so well as it brings character and depth into a room. Although it takes some practice, keep the colour palette the same but be bold when it comes to combining different wood tones or ages of furniture.

PLANTS PLEASE

Paris isn't a city well-known for its green spaces, so residents tend to bring the outside in with pot plants, dried flowers and window boxes for a touch of colour. Keep the palette to greens and neutrals to allow continuity throughout the room but don't be afraid to include some cascading plants to draw the eye.

IN THE DETAILS

Now it's time for some fun! Accessorising your space with beautiful trinkets, glossy coffee table books and unusual ornaments is what brings your space to life. Parisians are very particular about how they dress their rooms so make sure you keep to a neutral colour palette with lots of luxurious materials such as marble, metal and glass to maintain a clean aesthetic.
