Whether you're a born veggie or just fancy cutting down your meat intake, there are a great range of vegetarian options to choose from if you're dining out. To celebrate National Vegetarian Week, a few of your favourite restaurants have even updated their menus and thrown some new veggie dishes into the mix.
Here are just a few of the great vegetarian meals you can choose from at Westfield London and Stratford City.
Comptoir Libanais' just launched a 55% vegetarian and 30% vegan brand new menu! New veggie dishes to try include the delicious feta, roasted vegetables and quinoa salad. The Mezze Platter is a great option if you're looking for something to share, or go for the Aubergine Tagine; a baked baby aubergine in a rich tomato and chickpea sauce with a mint yoghurt garnish.
To celebrate National Vegetarian Week, Wagamama has added a new dish to their vegetarian menu. The harusame tofu salad is the new plant-based powerhouse, with noodles mixed with marinated tofu, kale, edamame, mint and pea shoots, this dish is packed full of flavour.
Feast your eyes on the Spicy Nacho burger from All Star Lanes. The veggie and vegan-friendly dish is made from a lentil and chickpea patty coated in polenta, guac, char-grilled courgettes and vegan nacho cheese. Sounds delicious! Other options include mac 'n' cheese and the Zuccado bun; with panko fried avocado and zucchini slices in a toasted brioche bun, with smoky chipotle mayo and a fresh tomato and coriander salsa.
The Italian cuisine is full of delicious veggie dishes, and Jamie's Italian has incorporated a whole bunch of them in their vegetarian menu.
For starters choose from Italian Nachos or the Tomato Bruschetta, then move on to the Gnocchi Genovese; with basil pesto, cherry tomatoes, veggie parmesan and extra virgin olive oil. Fancy something sweet for dessert? We suggest Jamie's Favourite Torta Di Nanda; a blueberry and oil cake with whipped cream, honey and orange zest. Yum!
Pho's new menu for 2018 has Veggie and Vegan options in every part of their menu.
For starters you can choose from their Goi Cuon; fresh rice paper summer rolls served with herbs, vermicelli and pickle, or opt for the Banh Xeo; a crispy Vietnamese crepe with rice papers and herbs. If you fancy a lighter lunch opt for the Goi Chay; a shredded salad with Asian herbs, peppers and a chilli ginger dressing.
The Pho Chay is a great choice for a meat-free main, consisting of tofu and button mushrooms. Or try the Pho Xao; wok fried flat rice noodles with lemongrass, chilli and Asian greens served with peanuts and dipping sauces.
According to Tonia Buxton, the mastermind behind The Real Greek's menu, the falafel with tahini sauce is one of the most popular veggie dishes on the menu. We recommend starting with Greek flatbread, with olive oil and a spicy mix of ground dry roasted nuts and seeds. For mains why not go for the Melitzanosalata; a light blend of smoked aubergine, garlic, shallots and lemon. Or give the Halloumi and Vegetable skewer a try.
From starter to dessert, Balans Soho Society caters for all. Veggie options include Crisp Polenta with a pepper dressing, Roasted Cauliflower with truffled lentils, burnt leeks, girolles, capers, walnuts and onion ash. Still not taken your fancy? Try the Halloumi Sweet Potato Cakes with wilted spinach and cucumber yoghurt. For afters you can opt for anything from an Apple and Cinnamon Crumble to a Baileys Cheesecake. Don't mind if we do!
Leon has a great vegetarian menu to choose from. Why not indulge in some banana bread or porridge with blueberries, honey and toasted seeds for breakfast? Or a mango and passionfruit kefir smoothie?
For lunch, you really are spoilt for choice. Whether you opt for a Rainbow Mezze salad, Meatless Meatballs, Grilled Halloumi Wrap or the LEON Plant Burger, made with edamame, lemongrass and chilli, you're bound to find something. You can even treat yourself to something sweet, with a raspberry ripple mini cupcake or a chocolate chai baked doughnut.
From starters to puddings, Giraffe's menu offers plenty of options. The garlic and rocket flatbread or Nachos Nirvana are great sharing platters, to begin with. For your main meal, we recommend the Enchilada Salsa Verde; a spicy rice mixed with veggies in a wrapped tortilla which is baked in a cheese sauce and drizzled with a salsa verde. Or go for the Vada Pav; a spiced potato fritter in a soft roll with baby spinach, yoghurt and crispy onions.
